Trump Unveils New Tariff Exemptions For Tech Products

President Trump announced new tariff exemptions for tech products, aiming to boost domestic manufacturing while easing pressure on the industry.

$390B In Tech Products Exempt

The move affects around $390 billion in imports, including smartphones, chips, and laptops. Companies like Apple, which imported $77 billion in tech goods from China in 2024, are expected to benefit. “Massive relief for market and tech stocks,” said Dan Ives of Wedbush Securities.

Critical goods remain under tariff, and baseline rates stay unchanged. Analysts see potential stability for tech sectors reliant on imports.

Political Response

For the most part, political response to the news was mixed, with critics citing favoritism toward big tech.

The White House also reiterated its reshoring goals, while investor Ryan Cohen discussed market impacts and strategy shifts.
