Ripple CEO Claims SEC Lawsuit Is Almost Over

Ripple's years-long legal battle with the U.S. SEC is finally over, according to CEO Brad Garlinghouse.

‘It’s Over’

On March 19th, Garlinghouse claimed that the SEC will drop its appeal soon and that this will be a huge victory for both Ripple and crypto. He confirmed the case’s end in a video, stating, “It’s over.”

The dispute began in December 2020 when the regulatory agency sued Ripple over a $1.3 billion unregistered securities offering. After more than four years, the case is now all but concluded.

Garlinghouse made the announcement at the Digital Asset Summit in New York, noting, “We’re closing a major chapter in crypto history,” and emphasized the need for the U.S. to become a global leader in crypto.

He also expressed gratitude to Ripple’s employees, legal team, and the XRP community for their support. XRP also surged about 9% following the news, with the token now valued at $146 billion.
